IGDA Chapters connect game developers in local communities around the world. Through regularly scheduled meetings and events, we provide an opportunity for professional game developers to interact with peers (and others interested in game development) on a local level.

Having an IGDA Chapter present in our city allows for:

Winnipeg, and Manitoba in general, has a very young game development industry, with several companies either actively engaged in, or in the initial stages of, developing video games. In addition to these businesses, the local Winnipeg Game Development Group/Guild (WGDG) is another group of individuals who have a self-motivated interest in game development, and also bring with them a corresponding skill-set (graphic & traditional art, computer programming, writing, game design, new media production) which might be applied effectively in some way towards the development of our industry.

Hence, we believe that an IGDA Chapter provides the best mandate and platform to help create a thriving industry right here in Winnipeg.
