A very New Media Christmas

Every year around December we get together with other related digital media groups to celebrate Christmas festivities, network, and share in some good holiday cheer. This year we promise to bring you the fanciest new media holiday event ever.

On Thursday, December 3, 2009, New Media Manitoba is partnering with the Graphic Designers of Canada, the International Game Developer's Association, On Screen Manitoba, and Flash in the Peg to bring you a holiday "Digital Media Showcase!"

The party starts at 6 pm at the IMAX Portage Place to celebrate a digital media production that has been 6-months in the making. Eight new media companies and Eight industry leaders will be featured during the evening on the larger than life IMAX screen in a celebration that is as close as we've ever gotten to an awards show.

Game-Based Learning

We're getting serious about games folks.

Click here to register (Link to: New Media Manitoba's Website)

"Serious Games," many of them simulations, are learning and training materials in a game format created to teach and entertain. Serious games are highly focused on the needs of a particular group or niche and can sometimes be developed for not much more than a corporate website.

On Monday March 16, 2009, Game on Manitoba is hosting a one-day conference that brings together Serious Games presenters from the USA, UK, and Manitoba. Throughout the day our on-site presenters will share strategies for game-based learning projects they've developed for other Corporations, the US Military, Triage Training for Hospitals and New Equipment Installations. This event will be an opportunity for game developers, digital media agencies and Industry Sectors to partner on training projects that can have a significant return on investment.

This conference will be especially important to attend if you run a business, or are an educator from the manufacturing sector, life sciences, human resource development, education, and aerospace.

This one-day conference is just $35 and includes breakfast, lunch, refreshments, and a chance to win an iPod. How's that as a start to your return on investment?

You must register online at New Media Manitoba to attend this event.

A detailed lineup of speakers and the day's agenda can be downloaded here Download PDF
